Kylian Mbappé made his breakthrough at AS Monaco, helping the club to a Ligue 1 title in the 2016-17 season as a teenager before Paris Saint-Germain signed him in 2017. Over seven seasons in Paris, he became one of the most productive forwards in French football history and a regular fixture in the France national team.
A long-anticipated move
Mbappé’s move to Real Madrid, completed on a free transfer in the summer of 2024, had been speculated about for years given his publicly stated admiration for the club during his childhood. The transfer was widely covered as one of the most anticipated in recent football history, adding him to Real Madrid’s long tradition of assembling rosters built around the sport’s most prominent attacking talents.
