Aberdeen will have 500 fewer supporters at Hampden for their Premier Sports Cup semi-final against Rangers after the club’s ticket allocation was reduced as a sanction.
The cut follows a pitch invasion and a pyrotechnics display from Aberdeen fans during the previous round away to Kilmarnock. Supporters ran on to the Rugby Park pitch after the Dons’ penalty shoot-out success in that tie.
Aberdeen had secured around 17,000 tickets for the semi-final, which is set for Hampden on 31 October. As well as losing the seats, the club must now meet the cost of the tickets removed by the SPFL sanction.
