Haaland’s City deal has no relegation clause as Premier League trio eye Llorente and Bastoni

Erling Haaland’s contract at Manchester City does not include a clause that would apply in the event of relegation, or under any other circumstances, according to reports in Spain. The 26-year-old Norway striker’s agreement with the club is therefore not thought to contain a specific provision tied to the team’s league position.

Attention is also turning to Atlético Madrid, where Spain midfielder Marcos Llorente has yet to decide his future. Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea are all reported to be interested in the 31-year-old.

The same three Premier League clubs are keeping an eye on Alessandro Bastoni, the 27-year-old Inter Milan and Italy defender, who is also attracting interest from Barcelona.

In London, Brentford are in discussions with their winger Kevin Schade over a new long-term contract. The talks come amid increasing interest in the Germany international from clubs including Arsenal and Liverpool.

Brighton are planning to trigger an extension in the contract of Yasin Ayari in the coming weeks. The Sweden midfielder is 22.

Liverpool are giving serious consideration to turning Ronald Araújo’s loan switch from Barcelona into a permanent move. The Uruguay defender, who is on loan at the club, is 27.

In Italy, Juventus have been offered the chance to sign Crystal Palace defender Tyrick Mitchell. The 27-year-old Englishman is also drawing interest from Liverpool and Manchester United.

Real Madrid are interested in Stuttgart’s Finn Jeltsch, a 20-year-old centre-back who has represented Germany at Under-21 level.

Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa both made enquiries over the availability of Valentin Atangana. The 21-year-old France youth international is currently with the Saudi club Al-Ahli.

Elsewhere, Newcastle sporting director Ross Wilson is overseeing a new recruitment approach that will see the club prioritise young talent alongside a new player trading strategy.
