Slovenia and Scotland shared the spoils in Ljubljana, the deadlock in their Nations League Group B1 meeting holding through to the final whistle at the end of a game of two very different halves.
The opening period left Scotland with plenty to be thankful for. They reached half-time lucky not to be a goal or two down, and the interval arrived with the contest still level only because the hosts had not made their superiority count.
The second period told a different story. Scotland were hugely dominant after the break and created the chances to settle the game, but the finishing did not follow. Oli McBurnie and Kieron Bowie both missed excellent opportunities, while McBurnie, the Hull City striker, also brought an excellent save out of Jan Oblak.
It is not a bad result for either team, but Scotland will feel they should have won given how much of the second half they controlled. They leave Ljubljana with a point and with the sense of a game that got away.
