Manchester City maintained their perfect start to the Women’s Super League season with a 1-0 win at Charlton, Alex Greenwood’s free-kick settling the match.
Greenwood struck a fine set piece in the 36th minute, and that single goal proved enough to give the defending champions a fourth successive WSL victory. City had plenty of opportunities to extend their lead but could not find a second goal.
For Charlton, the defeat extends a winless run that leaves the promoted side bottom of the table without a point.
