Arsenal and Manchester United are both keeping a close watch on Porto’s Alberto Costa, with the 22-year-old Portuguese right-back also on Paris Saint-Germain’s radar. Any move from the Premier League pair would therefore come with competition from the French champions.
Manchester City’s situation remains a live theme in the window. It is reported that City would place a hefty price tag on Norway striker Erling Haaland, 26, if the club ends up being relegated from the Premier League over financial rule breaches. Chelsea, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona are among the sides interested in Haaland and are said to be monitoring City’s position given the possibility of sanctions.
Elsewhere, former Chelsea and Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling has been offered to two clubs in France’s Ligue 1, but neither showed an interest in the 31-year-old Englishman. Sterling is currently a free agent.
In Turkey, Besiktas president Serdal Adali has vowed to sign Joe Willock, 27, from Newcastle in January, claiming the English midfielder has already chosen a new home in the country.
Eddie Howe, the former Newcastle boss, will not return to Premier League management with a lower or mid-ranked club such as Crystal Palace or Fulham, according to reports. The suggestion is that he would instead want to take over at an underachieving big club.
Liverpool, meanwhile, retain an interest in Real Madrid’s France midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, despite the 26-year-old signing a new long-term contract with the La Liga club in the summer.
All of the above remains speculation rather than completed business, and none of the potential moves has been confirmed by the clubs or players involved.
