French courts dismiss Mbappé’s harassment complaint against PSG

The legal disputes between Kylian Mbappé and Paris Saint-Germain are over. French justice has dismissed the complaint the forward filed against the Parisian club for alleged psychological harassment during his final spell at the club, with the investigating judges finding insufficient evidence to proceed.

The case had been opened after the footballer’s lawyers went to court, but the investigation was ultimately closed in May due to insufficient evidence and after the player himself withdrew the complaint. It continued for a time even without him, yet the investigating judges concluded that proceedings could not move forward once they no longer had the support of the complainant, and that the evidence available did not justify continuing.

The root of the affair lies in the summer of 2023, when Mbappé was left out of PSG’s first team after communicating his decision not to renew his contract. The club’s position was that the player had to either renew or leave in exchange for a significant amount of money before his contractual link expired and he could depart on a free transfer. For several weeks Mbappé trained away from the first-team group before eventually being reintegrated and returning to competitive action under Luis Enrique, who was then in his first season in charge.

A sporting standoff then turned into a financial one. After leaving PSG at the end of that season to join Real Madrid, the club withheld part of the salary and bonuses due to him. PSG maintained that those amounts were tied to a verbal agreement reached between Mbappé and the club’s president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, which would have allowed his return to the first team. The player rejected that interpretation and claimed the outstanding sums.

In May 2025 Mbappé launched a legal offensive on several fronts, among them the moral harassment complaint relating to his exclusion from the squad. That complaint was subsequently withdrawn by the footballer himself. The other major front, over the money PSG had withheld, ended with a ruling in Mbappé’s favour: a Labour Court ordered the Parisian club to pay him 61 million euros, and PSG decided not to appeal, making the decision final. With the harassment complaint now dismissed, the legal battles between Mbappé and PSG are closed.
