Zlatan Ibrahimovic turned 45 on October 3, and he marked the occasion the way he has marked most of his career: by treating himself to something nobody else can easily get. The former Sweden international gifted himself a Ferrari F80, one of the most special machines the Maranello manufacturer has produced in recent years.
The F80’s name ties it directly to some of the most significant cars in Ferrari’s history. It is regarded as the successor to models such as the F40, the Enzo and the LaFerrari, carrying that lineage into a new generation of extreme-performance hybrids. Its official starting price is around $3.9 million, a figure that can climb further once customization and optional equipment are factored in.
Even that number does not fully capture how difficult the car is to obtain. Ferrari has limited production to just 799 examples, with deliveries scheduled between 2025 and 2027. The cars were reserved by collectors before production even began, which means the F80 is not a model a buyer can simply decide to purchase.
The performance figures explain the interest. Ferrari replaced the traditional V12 with a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 paired with three electric motors, a combination that produces 1,200 horsepower. The powertrain is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The result is a car that reaches 100 km/h from a standstill in 2.15 seconds and 200 km/h in just 5.75 seconds, with its top speed electronically limited to 350 km/h — numbers far closer to a racetrack than a public road.
As a birthday present, the F80 sets a bar that will be hard to clear, which leaves one obvious question hanging over next October 3: what does Ibrahimovic gift himself when he turns 46?
