Scottish Gossip: Hassan absent for Egypt, Vrancken rejects Bulgarian offer, Craig on his Hibs exit

Celtic winger Haissem Hassan was missing from Egypt’s 1-0 friendly defeat by South Africa on Sunday, amid a report that he has returned early to the Scottish champions.

Back at Celtic, there are said to be concerns over the recent form of Kasper Hogh, although the club is confident the £11m summer signing from Bodo/Glimt will go on to lead the line successfully in the years ahead. Former Celtic midfielder Joe Ledley has backed the club’s newer arrivals to come good once they get over the initial “shock” that comes with a move to Glasgow’s east end.

On the Rangers side, Waghorn has backed manager Derek McInnes to deliver silverware. A former Rangers forward named Martyn, meanwhile, has said he wishes he could have stayed longer at Ibrox.

Heart of Midlothian head coach Wouter Vrancken has revealed he turned down a job in Bulgaria worth double what Tynecastle offered him, but believes he made the right decision to stay.

Dundee United striker Zac Sapsford has opened up on his first attempt to break into British football, at National League North club Chester, which was thwarted by the Australian’s registration problems and the Covid pandemic.

Axed Hibernian assistant Liam Craig says he and David Gray will look back on their time at Easter Road with pride, and believes they have left the club in a good place.
