Tottenham to fly to Marbella for team-bonding camp after Old Trafford trip

Tottenham will fly to Spain for a training camp and team-bonding trip following Saturday’s Premier League game at Manchester United.

Roberto De Zerbi, who took charge as Tottenham manager in late March, has seen his side make a winless start to the season, collecting two draws from their opening five games. That run has left them bottom of the table.

With nine days between the fixture at Old Trafford and Monday’s home game against newly-promoted Coventry, De Zerbi hopes the time spent in Marbella can help kick-start Tottenham’s campaign. The decision is also influenced by conditions at home: temperatures in the southern Spanish city are predicted to reach 25 degrees, while rain is forecast in Enfield, where the club’s training base is located.

The timing of the trip is unusual. Clubs in England typically head abroad in search of warmer weather during the winter, rather than this early in the season and so soon after an international break.

Tottenham invested heavily in the squad over the summer, spending more than £250m to add 10 players. The busy fixture schedule and the extended international break have left the new-look group with little opportunity to gel, a situation complicated by the late arrival of Savio, Tosin Adarabioyo, Mykhailo Mudryk and Omar Marmoush, all of whom joined in the final week of the transfer window.
