Hibernian’s search for a new manager is being reported in conflicting terms, with Bristol Rovers manager Steve Evans at the centre of the uncertainty. One report says the Edinburgh club are ready to ask Bristol Rovers for permission to speak to the 63-year-old about the vacancy at Easter Road, which opened after David Gray’s departure. The same report suggests Hibernian would need to pay £250,000 in compensation to secure Evans, who has Bristol Rovers joint top of League Two and has been installed as the early bookmakers’ favourite for the job.
Another report, however, states that Hibernian have not approached Bristol Rovers to discuss talks with Evans, despite the links to the veteran coach. That report adds that Hibernian hope to make an appointment early in the international break. Former Feyenoord striker Jon Dahl Tomasson, who most recently managed Sweden, is said to be second favourite for the role behind Evans.
Elsewhere, Rangers have reportedly ruled out selling Bojan Miovski in January. A report states that Rangers believe they cannot afford to sell the 27-year-old North Macedonia international, even though he remains third-choice striker behind Kevin Kelsy and Ryan Naderi.
The round-up also includes comments from Tam Courts, who says he cut short a big-money coaching job under Brendan Rodgers at Saudi Arabia Pro League club Al-Qadsiah to head up the Scotland Under-19 side because he felt he would regret not taking the opportunity. New Scotland Under-21 head coach Tony Docherty says his style of play will mirror the more expansive, front-footed philosophy that new Scotland head coach Sébastien Pocognoli is hoping to implement.
Aberdeen head coach Stephen Robinson has ruled out sending Findlay Marshall on another loan, saying the 20-year-old is now an integral part of his plans after the midfielder was handed his first start in Tuesday’s 4-0 win over Motherwell. Venezuela are keeping Paulo Bernardo, currently on loan at Górnik Zabrze from Celtic, under constant observation for a possible international call-up, despite the 24-year-old midfielder having been capped at under-21 level by Portugal.
Hearts record signing Ageu is in contention for a return to the Heart of Midlothian squad for the first time since February this weekend against Kilmarnock as the 24-year-old midfielder continues his recovery from injury. Injury-hit Hearts midfielder Finlay Pollock is nearing a comeback to competitive football after an 18-month absence.
