Kane breaks 49-year-old record with 100th Bundesliga goal as Bayern hit seven

Harry Kane has become the fastest player to score 100 Bundesliga goals, reaching the milestone in his 98th league appearance for Bayern Munich as the champions dismantled Union Berlin 7-0.

The record had stood for 49 years. Cologne’s Dieter Müller set the previous mark in 1977, but needed 129 matches to get there. Kane’s scoring rate since arriving in 2023 had made a new record look inevitable for some time: he had been averaging a Bundesliga goal every 78.5 minutes, and he has now scored 152 goals in 154 appearances in all competitions, a tally that includes 61 in 51 games last season.

The milestone goals came either side of half-time. Kane blasted home a 39th-minute penalty to bring up his century, then nodded in a cross from Michael Olise early in the second half to move himself on to 101 Bundesliga goals. The win sent Bayern top of the table before the rest of the weekend’s matches.

Kane’s achievement overshadowed two other notable performances. Olise scored his first Bayern hat-trick, while Jamal Musiala also found the net with a goal the report described as worthy of winning any game on its own.

“I’m very proud to have now scored 100 and 101 Bundesliga goals. I haven’t been around that long. I’ve loved every second of it,” Kane told Sky Germany. “With Michael, Lucho and Jamal I naturally get chances and today was no exception. So I just want to thank the team, the club, the coach, and the staff – everyone who has helped me achieve this. Let’s keep going like this. Scoring more goals in games is obviously a big step. Of course, there have been many important goals among them. I can only say that I’m enjoying every minute of it. Just like today.”
