Germany’s 1-1 draw with the Netherlands has been overshadowed by injuries to Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala, with both players leaving the pitch before the end of the match. Havertz, who plays his club football for Arsenal, came off after 30 minutes with a muscle problem, while Musiala also came off with an injury.
Speaking after the game, Germany manager Jürgen Klopp made clear that the pair’s fitness was the main concern to come out of the performance. “The negative highlights are obviously the two injuries to Jamal and Kai,” he said. Klopp confirmed that both problems are muscular, and set out that they arose at different points around the match: Musiala’s injury happened before the game, while Havertz’s came relatively early in it.
On the assessment of the two players, Klopp said they were either still undergoing an MRI scan, on their way to one, or already finished with it, but stressed that no results were available yet. That leaves the severity of both injuries, and any potential time out, unresolved for now.
