Getafe have made a formal offer to sign Jadon Sancho, with the former Manchester United attacker still searching for a new club. The 26-year-old winger is a free agent after his contract expired in the summer and has been exploring a number of options.
An agreement is described as complicated, but Getafe are keen to find a resolution. The Spanish side sit 14th in La Liga and are competing in the Europa Conference League this season. Sancho, for his part, is said to favour a move away from England, though he remains open to all possibilities.
His departure from Old Trafford closed a five-year chapter that began when United paid £73m to sign him from Borussia Dortmund in 2021. That spell also included loan moves back to Dortmund and to Chelsea. His switch to Stamford Bridge in the 2024-25 campaign carried an obligation to buy, but Chelsea instead paid a £5m penalty to send him back to Old Trafford after he made 41 appearances.
Sancho spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, making 39 appearances as Unai Emery’s side secured Champions League qualification and Europa League success. He scored his only goal of that loan spell against Fenerbahce in the Europa League, and came on as a late substitute in the victory over Freiburg, his third European final in three seasons.
Getafe have already been active in the free-transfer market. Earlier this week Dani Carvajal, the former Real Madrid captain who had been without a club since his deal at the Bernabeu expired in June, joined on a free transfer. The 34-year-old Spain right-back, who won 27 trophies with Madrid including six Champions League titles, has signed a contract until June 2027.
While he waits for his next move, Sancho has been posting training videos to his Instagram account. That has included a visit to non-league side Flixton, who had to clarify that the former England international was not on trial with the North West Counties club.
