Hull City midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath has been involved in a car crash near the club’s training ground. The black Mercedes involved crashed on Millhouse Woods Lane in Cottingham, East Yorkshire, and is understood to belong to the 24-year-old. One resident told the BBC that the vehicle had also struck and damaged her car.
Hull City said the club was aware of images circulating on social media following a road traffic accident near the training ground and confirmed that no one was harmed in the incident. Humberside Police said emergency services were called at 08:30 GMT.
The incident is the second crash in three weeks involving a Hull City player on the same street. In September, Gourna-Douath’s teammate Sorba Thomas was involved in a crash on Millhouse Woods Lane.
Residents raised concerns about safety on the road. Paul Nickerson, who lives on the street, said: ‘I arrived just after it turned over because I heard the noise.’ He added: ‘If it had happened a minute before, my wife was walking down the road with our kids taking them to school. So, it’s really worrying.’ Tracy Evans, who has lived on the road for 19 years, said she has been asking for the speed limit to be reduced for about 10 years. She said: ‘At that time, children are coming, going to school, the parents are coming back.’ She added measures needed to be put in place ‘to avoid something happening in the future’.
