James Wilson & Findlay Curtis leave Scotland squad to join Under-21s

Forwards James Wilson and Findlay Curtis have left the Scotland squad in order to play for the Under-21 team against Azerbaijan on Wednesday.

The pair had been training in Spain as part of the 27-strong senior group selected by new head coach Sebastien Pocognoli. Hearts striker Wilson and Rangers winger Curtis will now miss the Nations League matches away to Slovenia and at home to Switzerland on Saturday and Tuesday.

Both players could return to the senior set-up for the 3 October trip to North Macedonia and the home game with Slovenia three days later. The Under-21s are away to Bulgaria on the same day as that second senior fixture.

Wilson has scored five goals for Hearts this season. He became Scotland’s youngest men’s international player at 18 years and 17 days old when he won the first of his two caps as a substitute against Greece in March 2025.

Curtis has made five Scotland appearances and is the nation’s youngest World Cup player, having come on as a late substitute against Haiti and Brazil in the USA this summer.
