Nico O’Reilly has withdrawn from the England squad for their final two Nations League matches of the international break because of injury. The Manchester City left-back, who played for England at the 2026 World Cup, has returned to his club side for “further assessment”.
O’Reilly played the full game for manager Thomas Tuchel’s side in the 3-2 defeat by Spain, but missed Tuesday’s 2-0 win against the Czech Republic. His withdrawal means he will sit out England’s trip to Croatia on Saturday and the return game against the Czechs on Tuesday.
England do not plan to call up any replacements for the defender.
Lewis Hall came into the side in O’Reilly’s absence against the Czech Republic, with the Newcastle United full-back combining well with former Magpies team-mate Anthony Gordon on England’s left flank.
