Manchester United eye Giuliano Simeone as Chelsea weigh January midfield moves

Manchester United will be taking a close look at Atlético Madrid’s Giuliano Simeone when the two clubs meet in the Champions League, according to Mundo Deportivo. The 23-year-old Argentina forward is on the Old Trafford club’s radar ahead of that European fixture.

Chelsea are weighing up two midfield moves for January. The Blues would need to pay at least £50m to tempt Barcelona into selling Netherlands international Frenkie de Jong, 29, in the winter window, according to Football Insider. Chelsea are also willing to meet Bournemouth’s asking price for Alex Scott, the 23-year-old England midfielder, although the Cherries remain hopeful that he will sign a new contract.

A host of Premier League clubs are interested in signing Inter Milan’s Aleksandar Stankovic, with AS reporting English interest in the 21-year-old Serbia midfielder.

Werder Bremen do not hold an option to sign Niclas Füllkrug on a permanent basis from West Ham, and the two clubs are yet to hold any talks over a future deal for the 33-year-old Germany striker, who is currently on loan at the Bundesliga side.

Real Madrid are close to securing Thibaut Courtois to a new contract. The 34-year-old Belgium goalkeeper is very close to extending his deal at the club until 2028, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Brighton have identified Red Bull Salzburg’s Bartosz Mazurek as a leading January target. The 19-year-old Polish attacking midfielder is on the Seagulls’ shortlist ahead of the winter window.
