Ryan Naderi scored twice as Rangers moved to the top of the Scottish Premiership with a 3-1 win over Kilmarnock. The German striker headed home twice in the first half, taking his tally for the season to six, and Kevin Kelsy was also on target before the break as Rangers leapfrogged Celtic at the summit.
The result made it six consecutive league wins for Rangers, though they were denied a fifth successive clean sheet when Kilmarnock substitute Nicky Clescenco scored on a last-minute counterattack. Celtic can move back top if they get a result at Motherwell on Sunday, so Rangers’ stay in first place may prove brief.
Hearts, third in the table, remain firmly on the coat-tails of Rangers and Celtic after dismantling St Mirren 5-0 at Tynecastle. The Jambos dominated from the start and Laurent Mendy fired them ahead in the 20th minute, with Calvin Miller scoring two penalties either side of half-time. Claudio Braga and Josh McPake completed the scoring to ensure a smooth afternoon.
It was Hearts’ biggest home win in the league for three and a half years, their largest at Tynecastle since a 6-1 defeat of Ross County under Steven Naismith in April 2023, and they are now comfortably the top scorers in the division. Attention turns next to their Conference League opener at home to Nordsjaelland on Thursday.
Elsewhere, Ashley Hay scrambled in a stoppage-time winner to give Dundee a 2-1 victory at Falkirk. The striker, who had been out since early August with a ligament sprain, converted from close range after latching on to Ethan Hamilton’s free-kick in the first minute of added time. Owen Bevan’s second goal for the Dark Blues had cancelled out Jacob Murrell’s first-half penalty at Falkirk Stadium, completing the turnaround.
Marink Reedijk endured a disappointing first game as Hibernian’s manager as his side lost 1-0 to Dundee United at Tannadice. The hosts scored in the first half through winger Daniel Bennie, on loan from QPR, and Hibernian finished the game with 10 men after Jacob Devaney was sent off.
