Clàudia Pina scored four goals as Barcelona dismantled Real Madrid 7-0 in Liga F on Sunday, a result that lifts the Catalan side five points clear of their rivals at the top of the table.
The 25-year-old Spain international was ruthless in front of goal as a dominant Barça won the Clásico with ease at the Camp Nou in front of more than 40,000 fans, extending their perfect start to the campaign. The match had been pushed back by two hours after torrential rain across Catalonia over the weekend.
Pina needed only four minutes to put Barcelona in front, finishing neatly after breezing into the area. The hosts monopolised possession and Madrid struggled to prise the ball away from them, holding out until the 28th minute, when Pina struck again — the first of three Barcelona goals in the space of around five minutes. Her second came after Ewa Pajor’s shot was blocked, Pina polishing off the rebound, and she completed her hat-trick a few minutes later by blasting into the top corner.
European champions Barça struck again almost immediately, Caroline Graham Hansen skipping past a defender before slotting home. Pina then claimed her fourth with a blast inside the near post before the interval, Barcelona again pulling Madrid’s defence apart.
The fifth arrived early in the second half for Pere Romeu’s side, Polish striker Pajor getting on the scoresheet. Three-time Ballon d’Or winner Aitana Bonmatí was introduced for the final 30 minutes as she continues her return to full fitness following a broken leg, and Swiss midfielder Sydney Schertenleib rounded off the rout late on with a stunning seventh from long range.
The result underlines the gulf between the two clubs. Barcelona have now won the league seven seasons running, and Real Madrid have beaten them just once in 25 meetings across all competitions. Madrid’s women’s team only began in 2020, after the club took over CD Tacón.
