Promise David Stung by Bee Mid-Interview as Brighton Striker Shows Off His Toronto Roots

Promise David’s rise has been swift, and the past couple of years have delivered plenty for the striker at both club and international level. His record of 41 goals in 82 appearances for Union Saint-Gilloise earned him a move to Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion in August, following a 2026 FIFA World Cup in which he played a significant role for Canada and scored in the group stage against Switzerland.

The 25-year-old is away on international duty again this week, and training brought an unexpected interruption. While speaking with the media, David found himself being hounded by a bee. He chose to shoo it away, a decision the insect evidently did not appreciate, and it stung him. His immediate reaction was a loud, colourful exclamation.

David was taken aback by how much the sting hurt, and he said it was the first time in his life he had been stung by a bee.

The way he expressed himself drew plenty of attention from fans, who picked up on an accent they identified as unmistakably Torontonian. David is from Brampton, which sits very close to Toronto, and the moment only added to his growing status as a favourite among Canadian supporters.
