Ronaldo closes in on 1,000 goals with Al-Nassr hat-trick

Cristiano Ronaldo scored the 67th hat-trick of his career as Al-Nassr beat Al-Kholood 5-3 in the Saudi Pro League, a result that lifted his career goal tally to 985.

The game was level at 2-2 after goals from Angelo Gabriel and Sadio Mane before Ronaldo scored three times in a 15-minute second-half spell to secure the win. Joao Felix provided four assists, two of them for Ronaldo goals.

It was the latest milestone in a career that has produced hat-tricks across four clubs and his country: seven for Al-Nassr, 44 for Real Madrid, 10 for Portugal and three each for Manchester United and Juventus. The 41-year-old is a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, has won league titles in England, Spain, Italy and Saudi Arabia, and is the all-time top goalscorer in men’s international football.

Ronaldo has spent almost four years at Al-Nassr, with whom he has one year remaining on his contract. In August he hinted at retirement by saying it was “probably” his last year playing. Al-Nassr, the defending Saudi Pro League champions, sit second in the table with a game in hand on leaders Al-Qadsiah.
