Cristiano Ronaldo has arrived in Oslo with the Portugal squad ahead of Sunday’s UEFA Nations League fixture against Norway. The Matchday 2 game is scheduled to kick off at 2:45 p.m. ET at Ullevaal Stadion, with Ronaldo set to come up against Erling Haaland.
Portugal’s arrival at the stadium drew a crowd of Norwegian supporters hoping to catch a glimpse of the players, and the loudest reception was reserved for Ronaldo. As he stepped off the team bus, phones were raised across the crowd and much of the attention turned in his direction.
Two young fans among those waiting tried to get closer. One was already being lifted up in an attempt to reach the Portuguese forward, while a little girl standing behind clasped her hands together and pleaded for a photo. Ronaldo’s security team moved in quickly to keep him protected, and the scene looked as though it would end there. Instead, Ronaldo stopped and posed for a picture with the two children — a gesture that lasted only briefly but changed the mood around him. Amid continued cheering, he went on to agree to photos with several other supporters before the situation was brought to an end and he returned to the bus, with security measures still in place for him and those around him.
Both sides go into the match on the back of opening wins. Norway beat Denmark 3-2, with Haaland scoring twice, while Portugal defeated Wales 1-0 through a João Félix goal. With both teams having started the competition with a victory, Sunday’s result could shape the battle for top spot in the group.
The fixture carries an added layer of interest: it will be the first time Ronaldo and Haaland have faced each other on a football pitch. Attention is now shifting toward that meeting, but Ronaldo has already left his mark on the trip with his first appearance in front of the Norwegian public.
